Our friends at AC Milan passed along this little announcement to vote for the Best Brazilian player in Europe. Of course, you know where my first two votes went!
Kaká is ready to pass on the testimony: the new nominations for the Samba Gold Trophy (Samba de Ouro 2009) have been officialised. The trophy, which has reached its second edition, rewards the best Brazilian player active in Europe. A year ago the victory went to Ricky. This year, among the thirty names in the running, there are also those of Pato and Ronaldinho. It's possible to vote on the official site sambafoot.com.
Here are the 30 players who have been nominated:
Alex (Spartak Moscow)
Anderson (Manchester United)
André Santos (Fenerbahce)
Naldo (Werder)
Daniel Alves (FC Barcelona)
Diego (Juventus)
Elano (Galatasaray)
Fabio Aurelio (Liverpool)
Felipe Melo (Juventus)
Fernandinho (Donetsk)
Filipe (Deportivo La Coruna)
Gilberto Silva (Olympiakos)
Grafite (Wolfsburg)
Hulk (FC Porto)
Julio César (Inter Milan)
Kaka (Real Madrid)
Lucas (Liverpool)
Lucio (Inter Milan)
Luis Fabiano (FC Sévilla)
Maicon (Inter Milan)
Marcelo (Real Madrid)
Maxwell (FC Barcelona)

If we this is based purely on club form, it comes down to Diego, Maicon and maybe Nilmar. Nothing against Kaka, but he is not the same player at RM as he was at Milan. Regardless, that list is impressive, because some of those guys will not be in the Selecao side going to SA. And it doesn't include players still plying their trade in Brasil. Brasil doesn't rebuild, they reload.

How is it you Milan guys always get the best Brazilians! It isn't fair! Nice add of the Serie A Podcast, by the way. I've got to vote for Diego, Maicon and Grafite for what he did last year at Wolfsburg.

How is it you Milan guys always get the best Brazilians! It isn't fair! Nice add of the Serie A Podcast, by the way. I've got to vote for Diego, Maicon and Grafite for what he did last year at Wolfsburg. When I was there all I kept hearing was Hernanes and Neymar. Chelsea's name came up with Neymar, then all of the sudden it disappeared. Have you noticed how a lot of big teams are saying they are not buying all of the sudden? Sure, they could be pulling smoke screens, but usually they just don't come out like they are now in full force denying that they are not buying in January. They know something we don't? |
