Chelsea Planning A Bid for Landon Donovan
Category: England - Barclays Premiership (EPL)

Chelsea are closely monitoring the situation with Everton winger Landon Donovan. The People says Chelsea boss Carlo Ancelotti sees the on-loan LA Galaxy captain as a replacement for Joe Cole. Ancelotti has been so impressed with the Los Angeles Galaxy forward during his loan spell with Everton, that he has asked club chiefs to open talks with Major League Soccer chiefs about a permanent transfer.
Donovan, 28, is due to return to LA for the start of the MLS season after today's Premier League clash with Hull - although Everton boss David Moyes hopes to extend the loan deal.
But Moyes knows Everton cannot afford to sign the player on a permanent basis. Donovan's spell at Goodison Park has been such a success that the player is said to be tempted by the prospect of a permanent move to the Premier League.
And Ancelotti believes Donovan would fit perfectly into a front three with Didier Drogba and Nicolas Anelka.

United Protesters To Stage Dramatic No-Show Protest for AC Milan Game
Category: England - Barclays Premiership (EPL)

Manchester United fans are ready to hold a visible and dramatic protest for their Champions League clash with AC Milan. The Daily Mail says thousands of United fans are ready to boycott the opening 10 minutes of tomorrow's Champions League clash with AC Milan at Old Trafford in a mass anti-Glazer protest.
The planned demonstration could bring the 'green and gold' campaign led by Manchester United Supporters' Trust into conflict with manager Sir Alex Ferguson for the first time, after the United boss insisted he would accept any protest as long as it did not have a detrimental effect on his team.
So far, supporters have respected his wishes, but the plan for up to 10,000 fans to remain outside the ground at kick-off and burn effigies of the club's American owner Malcolm Glazer - while their team try to build on a 3-2 first-leg lead in a crucial European game - is in danger of crossing the line.
MUST chief executive Duncan Drasdo insisted last night that it was not an official protest being planned by his organisation, but said he would not try to stand in the way of fans if they wanted to go ahead with it.
"We're not co-ordinating anything but we're not against it either," said Drasdo. "People can make up their own minds over how to express themselves but we're not pushing it at the moment. We have other priorities.
"We're more interested in participation in the internet campaign. The green and gold is a better illustration of the campaign for change."

More England Scandal: Capello, Players Were BUGGED
Category: England - National Team (England)

Now comes news from The Daily Mail that says Capello's World Cup preparations have been thrown further into disarray by an illegal recording of an England team meeting before last week's friendly against Egypt.
The FA launched an investigation into how a bug was planted in a meeting room at the team hotel in Hertfordshire. It is thought the spies have a six-hour recording and FA lawyers have moved to block any publication of the material, claiming a flagrant breach of privacy laws.
While Capello hoped Wednesday's 3-1 win at Wembley had brought a scandal-ridden few weeks to a more positive conclusion, the England manager will now be bracing himself for yet more controversy.
The FA do not know who is responsible for the recording, or indeed who is in possession of the material, but there is speculation that the contents could be extremely embarrassing.
It has been suggested that England players are heard discussing bonuses they want for doing well in South Africa. There is also speculation that players are heard joking about sex scandals. In addition, Capello is said to have discussed tactics.

Terry Stands by Stoke Goal Celebration

Chelsea captain John Terry stood by his goal celebration against Stoke City fans during their FA Cup win. Terry, stripped of the England captaincy by Fabio Capello because of the lurid headlines concerning his private life, celebrated his second half goal by running to the corner flag and pointing at his captain's armband.
Terry's action was in clear response to the criticism he had received from City's supporters.
"The armband means a lot, of course," said Terry. "Chelsea have been very supportive, the players as well, but we wanted to show the fans how much it meant to us.
"We had a couple of days to work on their set plays but they can play as well. On a dodgy pitch I thought we played well and bounced back from last week," Terry told ITV1.

Carragher: Liverpool Need 7 Signings To Be An EPL Contender
Category: England - Barclays Premiership (EPL)

Jamie Carragher admits there's a huge gulf between Liverpool and the Premiership's top title contenders. Indeed, the Reds favourite says they need up to SEVEN new signings to bridge the gap.
Carra told the Sunday Times: "The only way to make this season positive is by achieving both targets, finish top four and win the Europa League. Even if we do, next season we need to move on.
"The squad is capable of producing better and we probably need two or three players who will go into the team and make an impact every week, and three or four more to beef up the squad. We probably need six or seven signings."
