World Cup Fantasy/Prediction Games

Category: Fantasy Football - Fantasy Football - Support and FAQs
Created by: worldfootballbook     Create Date: April 28, 2010     Last Comment: June 6, 2010

Continuing our commitment to bring you the best in online fantasy football and prediction games, World Football Book is announcing the release of a new, simplified Control Panel that will track up to three new games for the 2010 World Cup.

1. 2010 World Cup Fantasy Football - the most expansive data set yet to help you find the gems that make up the most successful teams.
2. 2010 World Cup Prediction League - Predict the final score of each match and select the number of goals you think each side will score. Predictions can be submitted/edited anytime until the kick-off of each match. You may predict as many games as you wish.
3. World Cup Suicide - The object of the game is simple: use a bit of strategy to decide which team can get you three points each round of the tournament. You can use each team only once during the course of the entire competition, so choose well. To make matters even more difficult, these point totals are multiplied by the round of the tournament as a bonus, so you'll want to save up your national team favorites for the later rounds where they can earn you maximum points.

There can only be one winner - so the player with the most points across all three games gets the largest prize from the World Football Designs store. All points earned are added to your membership points to provide you discounts when making future purchases.

Fantasy Buy-In League

One of the biggest requests we have encountered is the concept of a buy-in league for the purpose of fantasy football now that the MLS and World Cup competitions are upon us.

What I'd like to get is some genuine feedback on the interest level because it does take some programming time to coordinate as well as document for all those interested. We may, indeed, be looking at a blended pay and non-pay system where the highest point totals get the cash prizes based entirely on whether a member has purchased a paid competition slot.

My only upfront concern is that it costs money to coordinate the payments through credit card processing (slightly less than 3% of the total) and I would recommend that a portion goes to a football related charity so all this coordination would go to a great cause as well.

So here's what I need from all of you - if you're interested in the pay model, how much is the buy in to compete, how many prizes do we give out (one winner vs top three) and how are these winnings to be distributed?

Really give it a good think and dazzle us with your ideas. I have the programmers who can pull this baby off and make it truly entertaining.

IE7 Bug For My World Fantasy Manager

As many of you know, we've been undergoing a major transformation in both the style and direction of the site. We have delivered phase one of the project, but have uncovered one small problem in the Fantasy Game Manager for only Internet Explorer Version 7 - causing the layout to go a bit goofy. All other browsers and OS configurations operate as expected. Our recommendation until we iron out the style sheets is that you upgrade to Internet Explorer 8 or use a different browser.

You'll notice that a number of players have been moved this evening to the new team roster for the Philadelphia Union, the latest MLS franchise in America.

GK: Brad Knighton, New England Revolution; Chris Seitz, Real Salt Lake (by trade)

DF: Jordan Harvey, Colorado Rapids; Dave Myrie, Chicago Fire; Shavar Thomas, Chivas USA

MF: Andrew Jacobsen, D.C. United; Stefani Miglioranzi, LA Galaxy; Shea Salinas, San Jose Earthquakes; Nick Zimmerman, New York Red Bulls

FW: Alejandro Moreno, Columbus Crew; Sebastien Le Toux, Seattle Sounders

None of these players have squad numbers as these have not yet been issued by their new team. Also remember, any MLS squad you build prior to the February announcement for the new season will be erased once the 2010 season is loaded by World Football Book.
