Neither the European U-21 Champions nor the 'Dream Team IV' could muster a goal between them in Tianjin. A very physical game with no major offensive opportunities. When an African team can hold The Netherlands to a scoreless draw this speaks to the power of the Nigerians not noted for such defensive prowess.

Osaze Peter Odemwingie, however, had perhaps the best chance of the game against the run of play on the hour mark. The Lokomotiv Moscow ace only just failed to connect with a low cross from Olubayo Adefemi. Promise Isaac of Nigeria almost managed to seal victory right at the death as the Super Eagles again battled hard as time ticked away, but Vermeer kept the scores level. I would be worried more about this team than The Netherlands if I was on Team USA. |
