Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger says he wouldn't have a problem facing champions Barcelona in the next round of the Champions League. Wenger is brimming with confidence after their 5-0 win over Porto last night.
He told arsenal.com: "It’s the same. First of all, we are happy to be in the last eight. If you look back at the last five years, I think we were in the last eight a few times. It’s never easy to be in the top eight in Europe. The negative side of that is you only have good teams now. So Barcelona, Manchester United, Chelsea, certainly. It will be difficult, but in the beginning of the season nobody expected this team to be where we are at the moment.
"But we showed we have mental strength and a good desire. We have good quality. I believe it is more important for our side to continue to improve.
"There are still some weak moments in the game that we can deal with better. And before we speak about Manchester United or Barcelona, it’s important that we improve. And then we have a chance."

I keep looking at this topic wondering who will bite first, so let me be the crash test dummy on it. Arsenal + Barcelona = no chance for the Gunners. Although it would be extremely pretty to watch - I'd buy a PPV on it for sure. |

God Bless, Lord Wenger! hahaha |

I'd buy a PPV on it for sure. And pound the over for each leg. |

And pound the over for each leg. At The Emirates, I would. In the Camp Nou, I'm not as sure knowing how the organized houses work on those kinds of odds - but I like your thought process. |

You suggesting that the fix is in to move England down in the UEFA coefficient and give Germany a leg up? I have a suspicion that UEFA is going to work over the Italians and English because they have both separated their top flight leagues from their domestic federations (unfair financial advantage). |

You haven't noticed? Fan the flames between the English and the Italians while the French and the Germans are moving up the ranks? Platini, although he's a Juve legend, has had a clear agenda since taking control: rope in Berlusconi and Moratti and run his mouth all over the place about the EPL and domestic quotas.Madrid spends 370 million? Not a peep. Nobody knows where Schalke's money is coming from? Not a peep. SAP software dumping hundreds of millions into Hoffenheim? Not a peep. Valencia was 500 million in debt (before the Spanish Government through them a lifejacket)? Not a peep. Dortmund's financial problems? Not a peep. Want me to go on? |
